At the end of last year Cochran recently bade farewell to one of our stalwarts, Bill Higgins. Bill had been with Cochran for over 30 years, initially as a key member of our service team, but in more recent years as our Training Manager. In this role Bill flourished and became known across the length and breadth of the UK, carrying out training from Shetland to Cornwall and everywhere inbetween, not to mention many overseas excursions. During his 7 years as Training Manager Bill grew Cochran’s training revenue 4 fold and trained literally 1000’s of managers, technicians and operators on the safe and efficient operation of boiler plant. He’ll be missed by customers and colleagues but it is time for Bill to enjoy a long and happy retirement.
Fortunately we have been able to replace Bill with a very experienced boiler and steam systems trainer, Rob Shipton. Rob has been training on boiler and steam systems for many years and is a CEA approved trainer for the Boiler Operation Accreditation Scheme (BOAS). This has enabled Rob to jump straight in and pick up where Bill left off. A keen rugby player and coach Rob is not one to duck a challenge, which is good, because one of his earliest assignments was to travel to India to train operators using Cochran boilers in the oil services market. Looking to the future Rob is keen to expand our potential in delivering BOAS, as well as developing our other courses. As a first step Cochran now has our 2 day Boiler Operation, Maintenance and Safety Awareness (BOMSA) accredited by LOGIC. We find that the BOMSA course is a good foundation for operators to learn and refresh basic boiler principles prior to undertaking the intensity of the BOAS course.
Full details / dates for upcoming training courses can be found on the training page of the website or by mailing training@cochran.co.uk
