New Training Course

Cochran has teamed up with Autoflame/BK Labtech to combine our popular BOM course with an intensive third day providing detailed coverage of Autoflame’s combustion control systems. The course will be run BK Labtech’s state of the art Biggin Hill training facility, complete with working Cochran boiler equipped with the latest Autoflame combustion and control equipment. Boiler Operation and Maintenance with Burner Combustion (BOM-BC)

Visit by Longstanding Customer

Date: 11/10/2017

Cochran recently played host to a visit by longstanding customer, Xuzhou Tobacco. Mr Wong and Mr Hao from Xuzhou were in Annan to inspect progress on the manufacture of their latest purchase, a 20t/h twin furnace Thermax boiler for their new facility in China’s Jiangsu province. They have previously purchased three Cochran units of similar size for their existing factory. The boilers are fitted with Cochran’s Equinox burners and heat recovery economisers for optimum efficiency.

Long Service Awards Presentation

Our annual long service awards took place in June, which was followed by an enjoyable celebratory lunch at Powfoot Hotel. Three people received awards this year, coincidentally all from the Aftermarket/Product Support side of the company.

JOHN IRVINE - ICOM Apprentice of the Year 2017

Huge congratulations to John, on this well-deserved award which was received in the RAF Club in London this afternoon. This is award has been running for 4 years and for 3 of those years, our Apprentices have won, which proves our support and on the job training for our Apprentices is second to none. John said, “I am very proud to have won the Award, I would like to thank my employer for both giving me the opportunity and for nominating me.” David Young, Chief Engineer commented "John has done very well, spoke clearly during his presentation today and this is recognition for the hard work he puts in back at Cochran. Coalmaster back onto African soil.

Our first coal fired boiler for some time has just landed in Africa. Our Agent, John Rundle from Steam Generation Africa (Pty) Ltd rang us to advise that the 5,000 kg/ph Coalmaster arrived safely and to let us know how impressed he was with the new blue wrapping. He said it has protected the boiler extremely well. Steam Generation Africa (Pty) Ltd are in charge of the transportation to its site in Zambia for installation and then commissioning.

Help Prevent a Massive Boiler Explosion

A massive Boiler Explosion occurred on Monday (03/04/17) in the USA on a small industrial estate, so far 3 people dead and 4 seriously injured. Also, a serious explosion last week in Petersburg, USA with at least three people hospitalised.

Cochran Burners

Cochran have been designing and manufacturing oil and gas burners for over 60 years. In 2014 the Company was approached to collaborate on a new range of pressure jet burners. We agreed a criteria and specification, then set forth on a new venture and a new phase in burner design and manufacture at Cochran. We have developed a mono bloc, gun type burner suitable from 0.5 to 6 tonnes of steam output. These burners are offered for gaseous, distillate and residual oil firing – all in dual fuel or dual oil combinations. Available in staged firing or fully modulating operation.

Insurance Companies Require Proof of Competence

The HSE and Insurance Companies require proof of competence in the boiler house. You must ensure that those responsible for day-to-day boiler operation, or overall management, have been trained to be fully conversant with the risks, safety procedures and best practice in the boilerhouse. To assist in this requirement Cochran are offering 2 courses at our Training Centre in the spring.
